About Dr Richard Peevor MBBS, MRCOG

Dr Peevor qualified with honours, including a distinction in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of London in 2000. His career has been directed to obtaining the best training he could receive to become a gynaecologist.

In 2007 he sub-specialised, and following a period of research into Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and its association with cervical cancer he trained to become a gynaecological oncologist, specialising in the treatment of gynaecological cancers.

Dr Peevor completed his training in Cardiff and then decided to move to North Wales to develop the cancer services in this region. Dr Peevor is a sub-speciality trained gynaecological cancer surgeon – the first to be appointed in North Wales. As part of this service he carries out complex, major gynaecological surgery – and along with colleagues in Cardiff has developed the largest group of Laparoscopic (keyhole) hysterectomy cases in Wales.

His private practice is aiming to provide the same dedicated professional service that he offers in the NHS but guaranteeing personal care in diagnosis, treatment and follow up as required. Dr Peevor also lectures in Dubai with the aim of supporting and furthering education and training in colposcopy in the Arab world.

Away from medicine Dr Peevor enjoys family life. Married to Danielle, he has two children. They enjoy sailing, particularly in home waters but also abroad. His love of the outdoors also includes skiing, running, cycling and swimming. He has been known to complete (albeit badly) in the occasional triathlon. Dr Peevor is a keen fundraiser and has now started raising funds for gynaecological cancer care improvement in North Wales.

In keeping with his belief that first-class care should be easily and rapidly accessible, Dr Peevor aims to see any patient within 48 hours – or sooner if it’s urgent.
